What is Lakera?

Lakera is an AI security platform, now part of Check Point Software Technologies, that lists Workforce AI Security, AI Agent Security, AI Red Teaming and an AI Red Teaming Service as its products. The AI Agent Security product discovers agents and MCP servers, blocks prompt injection and jailbreaks, prevents data leakage in prompts and responses and controls what tools agents may call, while the red teaming product is offered as a self-service platform or an expert-led service. It is delivered as SaaS through a REST API (POST to api.lakera.ai/v2/guard) with Python, JavaScript and cURL examples, and the documentation site also exposes an MCP server for AI coding clients. Lakera was founded in 2021 by David Haber, Mateo Rojas-Carulla and Matthias Kraft and is dual-headquartered in Zurich and San Francisco; Check Point announced its agreement to acquire the company on 16 September 2025, and SecurityWeek reported an estimated value of about USD 300 million. Pricing is not published. The product trust centre lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022 and HIPAA for AI Agent Security.

Best for: Enterprises that want runtime guardrails, agent tool governance and red teaming from a vendor now inside a large security platform (Check Point).
Pros
  • Trust centre lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022 and HIPAA for the AI Agent Security product
  • Independent coverage of the Check Point acquisition from SecurityWeek and CyberScoop
  • Public developer documentation with a REST API, and open-source repositories (pint-benchmark MIT, dsec-gandalf Apache-2.0) on GitHub
Things to check
  • No published pricing; the pricing page shows no plans or figures
  • Acquired by Check Point in 2025 and being folded into Check Point's AI security platform: the lakera.ai about page now redirects to checkpoint.com and the GitHub organisation page shows the org as archived
